At Sidcot School we set out to provide a creative and stretching education that inspires children to want to learn. To achieve this, our curriculum is shaped to meet government requirements but without an exam obsessed and prescriptive syllabus.

As you'd expect we have smaller class sizes and outstanding exam results.

More importantly, we give our students the opportunities and skills they need to achieve their maximum potential both academically and personally - an approach to learning that benefits them throughout their life and career.

Boarding at Sidcot School

When students board at Sidcot they join a friendly, family community in which they can live, work and play, secure in the knowledge that they are valued and well cared for.

As well as full boarding, options for both weekly and flexi-boarding may be available. Recognising the changing needs of families, our approach to boarding is flexible. Whilst the majority of our boarders are full time, we are happy to discuss other options to meet particular needs.

A word from our Headmaster

A word from a former student

Preparing students for a complex world

Creativity, problem solving, flexibility, adaptability and resilience to change are all things that we see as equally important to academic success.

For a young person to be successful in a school relies on them feeling that they are recognised, valued, safe and secure.  At Sidcot we get the maximum potential from each student so that they feel confident that they can and should make a difference in the world.

The ability to think for themselves

Tim Bevan CBE, award winning film producer and former Sidcot School student explains how Sidcot taught him to think for himself and how this helped him through life.

Sidcot students gain much more than academic qualifications from their education.  Tenacity, resilience and not always taking "no" for an answer helps to give them the confidence to think as an individual.

Our approach to boarding

Our ethos at Sidcot School is based upon a family approach to boarding where all members of the community should feel a sense of belonging and inclusion.

The staff at Sidcot endeavour to maintain a supportive and safe environment where young people can grow and develop into independent, responsible adults.  In return it is expected that boarders make the most of the opportunities available to them.

The purpose of boarding at Sidcot is to offer a quality boarding experience, provide a stable home and schooling for children and to enhance educational choice.

"The provision is outstanding. Boarders state that there are a wide variety of people that they can approach if they need personal guidance or support and these include student office holders, tutors, nurses, the school counsellor and other members of staff."
